During the month of October, I took part in Ludum Dare 56. This is an widespread game jam that happens every six months, where thousands of submit games made within a 72 hour time frame.
For this Ludum Dare, I joined a team of 10 other individuals to make a short, horror-based dungeon crawler. The game is heavily inspired by PS1 titles and combines 2D sprite art with 3D environments.
Below are my contributions to the project.
Title Screen and Thumbnail
I took on the task of creating the games title screen and thumbnail. I aimed to make the thumbnail look like old PS1 cover art. The title screen is meant to replicate the over-all aesthetic of the game, that being a cute doll house that is slowly falling apart. I made sure to make the title screen look cute yet dirty. Eggs grow over Polly’s character art, foreshadowing what happens to her at the end of the game.

Sprite Art
My main task for the team was revise character concept art and create the animated sprites. While simple, this project was a great way to expand my skills in Aseprite. Below are the concept drawings for the enemy’s, along with their revised sprites.
